Privacy Policy

Mélissa Garrido (hereinafter “the sexologist” or “we”) recognizes the importance of ensuring the protection of personal information collected via her website or by any other technological means. As such, the sexologist is responsible for the protection of personal information held or entrusted, where applicable, to a third party. By “personal information”, we mean any information which concerns a natural person and which allows, directly or indirectly, to identify them.

The current Privacy Policy applies to any person who visits this website and uses the various services presented therein or interacts with the sexologist through the website or any other technological means. The policy outlines the way in which the sexologist protects your personal information, in order to take into account the requirements of the laws applicable in this area in Quebec, namely:


• Professional Code (RLRQ, c. C-26);

• Code of ethics of sexologists (RLRQ, c. C-26, r.222.1.2.01);

• Regulations on files, consulting rooms and other offices and thesepractice of members of the Professional Order of Sexologists of Quebec (RLRQ, c. C-26, r. 222.1.4);

• Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (RLRQ, c. P-39.1).

Personal information we collect

As part of our interactions with you, we collect certain personal information about you. The personal information collected is necessary in order to offer you the services requested and vary depending on the people from whom they are collected: 
From customers: name, address, email, telephone number, any information relevant to the service provided (e.g. age, employment, significant relationships, diagnoses, etc.). 
• From website visitors : name, contact details which allow us to contact you, information necessary to process your request, web browser, pages visited and requests, time and day of connection, etc.

 

Purpose of collection and means by which we collect personal information
The sexologist collects your personal information to achieve the objectives described below:
• Ensure administrative management of files;

• Communicate with customers and partners, invoice services, manage payments, etc.

• Respond to a request or provide sexology services;
• Produce statistics, studies and research;
• Operate, maintain, improve and provide all features of the Website, provide the services and information you request, respond to comments and questions, and provide support to users of the Website;
• Subject to your consent, understand and analyze the usage trends and preferences of users of our website;
• Send you communications.

The sexologist collects your personal information through: the website, email, platforms of our external suppliers, direct communications, etc.

Consent
By visiting our website or by providing us with personal information (by email, by completing one of our online forms, by telephone, during meetings, etc.), the sexologist considers that you consent to the collection of this information, but also to their use and communication for the purposes mentioned above. You can at any time withdraw your consent to the use and communication of personal information already collected by the sexologist. You can exercise your right by contacting the sexologist (contact details below). Withdrawing your consent may prevent us from providing or continuing to provide you with certain services.

 

Use and Communication
Under no circumstances does the sexologist use or communicate your personal information without your consent. Exceptions may, however, apply due to a court order or when the law provides for it (e.g. youth protection, imminent risk of serious injury or death, etc.)

Retention of personal information
The sexologist retains your personal information only for the period necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was collected been collected. If the collection takes place as part of a sexology service, your data will be kept for 5 years after the last service provided and then will be securely destroyed. Your personal information is processed and hosted in Quebec.

Security measures
The sexologist protects your personal information through security measures (physical, technical or administrative) appropriate to its nature, in order to prevent a person from having access to it, using it, or communicating it to third parties when it was not authorized to do so, or in order to prevent losses or any other attack on their protection. Measures are in place to ensure that only the sexologist is at authorized to access it. We also ensure that the third parties to whom we communicate your personal information take measures to ensure the confidential nature of the information we entrust to them and that they only use it for the purposes provided for in the agreement concluded with them.

Access and rectification to your personal information
It is important that the personal information we hold about you is up to date. Please inform us of any changes. Additionally, you can submit a request to access: 

- your personal information;
- rectification of your personal information;

- withdrawal of your consent to the use or communication of your personal information;
- portability (from September 22, 2024) by contacting the sexologist (contact details below).
